The 500kV Monsoon-Thanh My line project (section on Vietnamese territory) was built in Nam Giang district, Quang Nam province with a total investment of more than 1,100 billion VND from credit loans from the Bank of Agriculture. and Rural Development (Agribank) and counterpart capital from EVN. The 500kV Monsoon-Thanh My line project is capable of transmitting a maximum capacity of up to 2500MW, contributing to improving the operating capacity of the national power system through importing electricity from Laos. However, according to the power purchase contract, in the immediate future, when put into operation, the line will receive imported electricity from Laos' wind power source with a capacity of 600MW, with an expected average annual electricity output of 1.7 billion kWh.
